From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
