A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
